Lauren Capitani has lived in every time zone in the United States, allowing her to design for a variety of spaces and styles — pre-war apartments in Manhattan, Victorian flats in San Francisco, adobe houses in Santa Fe. After advising friends and family for years about interiors and successfully transforming a dilapidated flip into a bespoke cottage (with multiple offers the week it listed), Lauren launched Abode Well Designs in 2022.

Lauren lives in Belmont, MA with her husband and three daughters. When not designing, thinking about designing, or working for the Stanford GSB, she spends her time running, cooking, and shepherding water glasses back to the kitchen.

Style does not come in one-size-fits-all. What looks wonderful in one home may not work in another.

Curated paint, furniture, and accessories allow for current appeal with flexibility. Avoid trends for hard-to-swap items, such as fixtures and flooring.

STEP 1: DISCOVER

The first step is learning about you — your vision, your tastes, and your lifestyle. Together we determine the scope of your project and how to bring your vision to life. We then take measurements and inventory your existing furniture.

STEP 2: CURATE

Next, using the information gathered, we create some or all of the following: floor plans; mood boards; Pinterest boards; and material boxes including fabric, paint, tile, and other sample selections. At this stage we will also create a Google Sheet with all product links and estimated expenses.

STEP 3: REFINE

Through whatever forms of communication you prefer — in-person meetings, online collaboration, etc — we fine tune our suggestions based on your feedback. The final choices are input into the schematics and Sheet for your easy reference.

STEP 4: IMPLEMENT

Depending on the project scope, we procure all materials and verify they are installed properly. For project management clients, we oversee all aspects to ensure the transformation is complete, and we have made your vision a reality.
